Trinity Bible Comes from 4 Points Down at Halftime to Beat Spartan Men by 8

On sophomore night at M State, Hayden Knick scored a team high 21 points, hitting 7-of-14 3-pointers in the game. Fifteen of those points came in the first half as the Spartans took a 44-40 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Trinity Bible College put together a solid second half, outscoring M State 49-37 to take an 89-81 victory.

Hamilton Scores 30, Registers Double-Double, but Spartan Men Fall to St. Cloud, 81-79

The M State Men’s Basketball team found themselves down by six points at halftime Wednesday night, trailing 41-35. The second half was a back-and-forth battle with M State outscoring St. Cloud 44-40, but coming up two points short in an 81-79 loss on their home floor. The loss leaves the Spartans and the Cyclones tied in the MCAC South with 2-3 conference records.

Spartan Men Fall to Wildcats at NDSCS

The M State Men’s basketball team fell behind 45-23 at the half on Monday night at NDSCS in Wahpeton, however, the Spartans battled the Wildcats the rest of the way, trailing by just 10 points late in the game before the Wildcats finished with an 87-62 victory. The Spartans were outscored by just 3 points in the second half, 42-39.

Spartan Men Win at Rochester

M State overcame a 30-24 halftime deficit in Rochester on Saturday afternoon and went on to record a 67-63 MCAC Southern Division victory over the Yellowjackets. The Spartans shot 46.3% (25-54) from the field and made 38.5% (5-13) from beyond the arc. They also held a 38-32 edge on the boards.

Warriors Pull Away From Spartans with Strong 2nd Half

The Ridgewater Warriors took an 11 point halftime lead (43-32) on Wednesday night and outscored M State 50-30 over the final 20 minutes to post a 93-62 victory over the Spartans in Fergus Falls. The Warriors had a good shooting night, making 49% (36-73) of their field goal attempts. The Spartans only made 33% (26-79) of their shots from the floor.

Spartan Men Struggle in Loss at Northland

The M State Men’s basketball team struggled from the get-go on Monday night in Thief River Falls, falling behind 31-13 at the half and losing to the Pioneers by a final score of 59-42. The Spartans shot just 31.5% (17-54) on the night and finished without a scorer in double figures.

The M State Men’s Basketball team had a good shooting night in Coon Rapids on Wednesday as they made 51.6% (32-62) of their field goal attempts on the way to an 89-81 victory over Anoka-Ramsey. Five Spartans reached double digits in scoring, led by James Hamilton with 25 points. Hamilton also had 9 rebounds. M State made 19-of-28 (68%) of their free throws.

Spartan Men Drop Southern Division Home Opener to Riverland

Riverland made 53.3% (32-60) of their field goal attempts and buried 10-of-21 (47.6%) of their 3-point attempts on Saturday afternoon as they recorded an 82-58 MCAC Southern Division victory over the M State Spartans in Fergus Falls. M State shot 36.7% (22-60) and only 20.7% (6-29) from beyond the arc. With the Spartans leading 24-23 late in the first half, Riverland rattled off 16 straight points to go into halftime with a 39-24 lead.

Minnesota West shot 61% (41-67) overall and 42% (11-26) from 3-point range on Wednesday night as the Blue Jays opened MCAC Southern Division play with a decisive 99-72 victory over M State in Worthington. Minnesota West also held a 39-26 advantage on the boards. The Spartans shot 43% (25-58) on the night.

M State had a good shooting night on Friday as they held off a late surge by Minnesota North College – Itasca to record their tenth win of the season, a 91-88 victory over the Vikings. The Spartans hit 52% (39-75) of their field goal attempts on the way to the win. James Hamilton registered a double-double (24 points, 11 rebounds) to lead M State.

Spartan Men Beat Rainy River for 5th Straight Win

The M State Men’s Basketball team improved to 9-3 on the year with their fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The Spartans led 37-28 at the half and held on for a 69-65 victory over Minnesota North College – Rainy River. M State shot 39.4% (26-66) overall, but struggled from the 3-point line, going just 6-for-25 (47.8%). They also made only 11-of-23 free throws (47.8%).

The M State Men’s Basketball team took a 43-21 halftime lead and then had to hold off a furious second half comeback by Minnesota North College – Rainy River to complete a 73-69 victory. The Voyageurs outscored the Spartans 48-30 over the final 20 minutes of play on Friday night. The two teams will face each other again at noon on Saturday.

Spartan Men Take Control in 2nd Half, Post 81-66 Win Over Itasca

The M State Men’s basketball team held a 32-29 halftime lead and then pulled away in the second half for an 81-66 win over Minnesota North College – Itasca on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The Spartans shot 36.8% (25-68) as they recorded their third straight win and improved their season record to 7-3. M State took excellent care of the ball, committing only 11 turnovers on the day and won the battle of the boards, 50-44.

M State made 17-of-21 (81%) free throws and won the rebounding battle 39-31 on Friday night as they edged Northland 69-67. The Spartans made 41.8% (23-55), while the Pioneers shot 42.9% (24-56) from the field. M State held a 36-30 advantage at the half, but Northland outscored the home team 37-33 over the last 20 minutes of play.

Ty Vig registered a double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds) and M State bounced back from a tough loss Friday night to defeat Minnesota North College – Rainy River by the score of 75-49. The Spartans shot 42.6% (29-68) from the field. Carter Clark was the leading scorer with 20 points and James Hamilton was also in double figures, scoring 10 points. Vig, Clark, Hamilton and Braylon Baldwin had 3 assists apiece and Hamilton secured 8 rebounds.

The M State Men’s Basketball team outscored Central Lakes Community College 15-10 in the overtime session on Tuesday night, recording a 96-91 road win over the Raiders in Brainerd. The Spartans led 46-39 at the half, but the home team rallied back with a 42-35 second half advantage to force OT.
