Spartan Men Fall Victim to Sharpshooting Blue Jays
Minnesota West shot 61% (41-67) overall and 42% (11-26) from 3-point range on Wednesday night as the Blue Jays opened MCAC Southern Division play with a decisive 99-72 victory over M State in Worthington. Minnesota West also held a 39-26 advantage on the boards. The Spartans shot 43% (25-58) on the night.

All five Minnesota West starters finished in double figures, led by Kewone Jones with 23 points. Austin Florence had 14 points and 6 rebounds, Calvin Flood contributed 12 points and dished out 6 assists, Owen Beilke scored 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, and DaShaundis Moore finished with 10 points.
James Hamilton (20 points, 6 rebounds) and Leng Akol (14 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists) were the leaders for M State. Braylon Baldwin added 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and Drew Overby scored 8 points off the bench.
M State (10-4, 0-1 MCAC South) will host Riverland at 3:00pm Saturday.
