Your path to competing at M State.
Getting admitted to M State is a key step toward becoming a Spartan student athlete. Below is a clear overview of the admissions process and what you’ll need to get started. If questions come up along the way, our team is here to help connect you with guidance, resources and support.
Step 1: Apply to M State
- Complete the free online application.
Step 2: Send your transcripts
- Have your high school transcript sent directly from your school. Include a college transcript if you’ve taken college coursework.
- Transcripts must include your graduation date and a school official’s signature. A final transcript is required to be eligible to compete in M State athletics.
- Transcripts may be sent as PDFs to our records department at records@minnesota.edu, or mailed to: M State Processing Center, 1414 College Way, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.
Step 3: Explore ways to pay for college
- Options include federal, state and local loans, grants and scholarships, along with private loans, self-pay, industry sponsorships and others. Visit Paying for College to learn more.
Step 4: Register for classes
- Meet with your assigned advisor and register for classes.
- Stay in communication with your coach.
Step 5: Sign-up for housing
- Once you've applied and been accepted, you can apply for housing (you will need to know your Student ID) Housing | M State
- Pay the $50 application fee.
- You will not be given a housing assignment until you've registered for at least 6 credits and the application fee is paid in full.
