Spartan Men Drop Southern Division Home Opener to Riverland
Riverland made 53.3% (32-60) of their field goal attempts and buried 10-of-21 (47.6%) of their 3-point attempts on Saturday afternoon as they recorded an 82-58 MCAC Southern Division victory over the M State Spartans in Fergus Falls. M State shot 36.7% (22-60) and only 20.7% (6-29) from beyond the arc. With the Spartans leading 24-23 late in the first half, Riverland rattled off 16 straight points to go into halftime with a 39-24 lead.

The Blue Devils were led by Joe Poyser's double-double (18 points, 14 rebounds). Lubab Kambalo came off the bench to score 16 points and Tristan Coleman added 14 points. Isaiah Lindor contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Riverland improved to 17-1 on the season. They held a 42-33 edge on the boards.
M State was led by James Hamilton (23 points, 8 rebounds) and Seth Hamilton (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals). Braylon Baldwin had a strong showing with 7 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, while Leng Akol and Carter Clark added 8 points each.
M State (10-5, 0-2 MCAC South) travels to Coon Rapids on Wednesday to face Anoka-Ramsey.
