It was homecoming for the M State Spartan football team on Saturday and they welcomed unbeaten North Dakota State College of Science to campus for a MCAC battle which the Wildcats won, 28-7. With the loss the Spartans go to 1-2 on the season.
Jaden Leonard, cornerback for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, had four tackles and three interceptions to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Leonard scored a defensive touchdown for the Spartans in their first win of the season.

he college football season is over for M State as they Spartans lost to Central Lakes, 26-12 on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The Spartans end their season with a 4-4 record, while Central Lakes takes a 3-5 record to Rochester to face the top-seeded Yellowjackets next Sunday, October 29 in the semifinal round of the MCAC Playoffs.
The M State football team won their final regular season home game on Saturday, defeating Minnesota West by the score of 28-0.
Minnesota North-Mesabi Range overcame a 28-13 third quarter deficit by scoring 21 unanswered fourth quarter points on the way to a 34-28 victory over M State on Saturday afternoon, spoiling homecoming for the Spartans and their fans.
Spartan quarterback KJ Cooper connected with wide receiver Marquan Tucker for 3 touchdowns on Saturday as M State posted a 32-29 road win over the Rochester Yellowjackets. Cooper completed 14-of-23 passes for 254 yards and Tucker hauled in 5 of those completions for 103 yards. Cooper also scored a touchdown on a 13 yard run.
The NDSCS Wildcats came to Fergus Falls on Saturday as the number two ranked football team in NJCAA Division III. The host Spartans were ranked third in the nation.
Rashad Madden ran for 91 yards on 11 carries and found the end zone 3 times on Saturday as the M State Spartans posted a 42-7 victory over Minnesota North-Vermilion in Ely. M State had 188 rushing yards and 246 passing yards on the day as they improved their season record to 2-1.
Minnesota State Community and Technical College quarterback, KJ Cooper, earned one of the Offensive Player-of-the-Week awards.

Sophomore quarterback KJ Cooper threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday in Brainerd, leading the M State football team to a 38-22 victory over Central Lakes. Cooper completed 25-of-37 passes on the day and Marquan Tucker (6 receptions, 191 yards) was on the receiving end of two of the TD passes.
