Spartans Close Out Season With Loss to CLC
The Central Lakes Raiders paid a visit to Fergus Falls on Saturday, handing the M State Spartans a 37-22 setback in the final college football game of the season for M State.
Central Lakes led 9-6 after one quarter and built a 23-9 halftime lead. Each team scored 7 points in the third quarter with the Raiders taking a 30-16 advantage after three. Central Lakes outscored M State 7-6 in the final quarter of play to put the final at 37-22.
Central Lakes compiled 438 yards of total offense with 307 coming through the air. M State finished with 322 (172 passing, 150 rushing) total yards.
Offensive leaders for M State were Marcus Davis (10 carries, 72 yards, 2 completions, 5 attempts, 48 yards), Mykh'ael Chavis (18 carries, 70 yards), Jabari Howard (5 catches, 66 yards) and Matt Iovine (8 completions, 17 attempts, 72 yards).
Defensively, Andrew Costello and Da'Won Barnes each registered 7 tackles, while Logan Lillis and Keyshawn Prince each recorded a sack. Benito Speight intercepted a pass and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown.
Nuke Crowell ran the ball 14 times for 72 yards to lead the Raiders and their quarterback, Quentin Skinner completed 11-of-22 passes on the day. Their leading receivers were Daryl Waindim (3 catches, 99 yards) and Jordan Thompson (2 catches, 92 yards).
