The M State volleyball team travelled to Mayville, North Dakota on Wednesday night for their opening match of the 2018 season. The lady Spartans were swept in three straight sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18.
Freshman Hannah Ekse led the attack with ten kills and sophomore Kassandra Algarate added seven. Freshman setter Sydney Hovland distributed 26 set assists and added 11 digs. Mia Greenman had a team high 23 digs, Taylor Berndt had 10 and Algarate came up with eight.
Greenman (14-14), Algarate (7-7) and Hovland (6-6) were all perfect from the serving line and as a team the Spartans served 92.7% in the match.
M State will participate in the MCAC Crossover Tournament on Friday and Saturday in St. Cloud.
