Volleyball Sweeps MCAC Weekly Awards
Minnesota State Community and Technical College athletes sweep the MCAC South Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week Awards this week.
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of August 30-September 5. These awards are sponsored by the Marines.
The MCAC South Offensive Player of the Week honor was earned by Minnesota State - Fergus Falls freshman setter, Kaia Strom. The Fergus Falls native lead her team to 3 wins this week as she compiled 85 assists, 6 service aces, and 16 kills in the 12 sets played.
Libero Bailey Marty has earned this week's South Division Defensive Player of the Week honor. The sophomore from Chokio, MN, dug 85 balls in 12 sets, and scooped up 33 digs in each match of two of the Spartans wins this week. Marty also was serving nails as she racked up 8 aces and went 51 of 52 from the service line.
With the three wins this week, the Lady Spartans have jumped into the NJCAA national polls at #9. The Spartans are now 3-0 on the season and return to the court on Friday at the RCTC Tournament.
