M State Volleyball Slips By Western Tech

The #4 Spartan volleyball team took to the road to play Western Tech on Friday. The Spartans were able to emerge with the win boosting their recored to 18-3.  The contest was very competive as each team traded sets.  The Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead taking the first set 25 - 22.   Western Tech edged them in the second 26-24 to even the match back up.  The third set took a few extra points to decide before the Spartans sealed it 28-26.  Western Tech came back and evened it up again winning the fourth set 25-20.  However, the Spartans were able to win the fifth and final set 15-10 to claim the victory.  

Leading the way for the Spartans offensively was Hannah Eske with 23 kills. Katherine Mastey added 14 kills.  Sydney Hovland put up 45 assists and collected 18 digs.  Bailey Marty led the team with 41 digs.  Alexa Mortenson and Eske added 5 blocks.  Alexis Heisler led the Spartans in aces with 3. 

The Spartans team will continue the raod trip on Saturday as they face #2 Rochester Community & Technical College in a battle of top five teams.
