Lady Spartans Use Shutdown Defensive Effort to Defeat Riverland
The M State lady Spartans held Riverland to single digit scoring in all four quarters on Saturday afternoon as they recorded a 56-19 victory in their first MCAC South Division home game of the season. M State shot 41.5% (22-52) from the field and dominated the boards, 54-26. Two Spartans registered double-doubles, Kaitlyn Olson (17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Terri Wind (10 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steal, 3 blocks).

Kaylee Robinson (13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks) and Taylor Dingwall (11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) also reached double figures for M State. The lady Spartans scored 26 points off 23 Riverland turnovers
Riverland shot just 14.3% (7-48) for the game. They were led by Lexi Lewis with 6 points, 4 steals and 2 assists. Najima Hassan led them with 7 rebounds.
M State (7-7, 1-1 MCAC South) will travel to Coon Rapids to face Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday night.
