Lady Spartans Hold Off Furious 2nd Half Comeback to Edge Vermilion 58-57
M State jumped out to a 35-17 halftime lead on Saturday against Minnesota North College – Vermilion, however, the lady Spartans had to hold off a furious second half comeback to escape with a 58-57 victory in Fergus Falls, improving their season record to 6-6 as they prepare to begin MCAC Southern Division play against Minnesota West in Worthington on Wednesday night.

Four lady Spartans reached double figures, led by 13 from Kaylee Robinson (9 rebounds, 4 assists). Taylor Dingwall (11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals), Kiara Goggleye (11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists) and Kaitlyn Olson (10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) were all in double digits. Terri Wind pulled down a team high 15 rebounds and scored 8 points. M State shot just 33.8% (24-71) from the field and made only 22.2% (4-18) of their 3-point shots.
Vermilion was led by Trinity Bodie (24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals), Madison Bowling (11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals) and Heavynn Eagle (10 points). Vermilion shot 35% (22-63) overall and 28.6% (8-28) from beyond the arc.
