Lady Spartans Hold on For First Win
The M State lady Spartans registered their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range by the score of 56-53 in Fergus Falls. The contest was tight throughout with M State leading 17-15 after one quarter, 29-27 at the half and 40-39 after three quarters. The Spartans outscored the Norse 16-14 in the fourth quarter to get away with the victory.

The M State lady Spartans registered their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range by the score of 56-53 in Fergus Falls. The contest was tight throughout with M State leading 17-15 after one quarter, 29-27 at the half and 40-39 after three quarters. The Spartans outscored the Norse 16-14 in the fourth quarter to get away with the victory.
M State hit 35.7% (20-56) of their field goal attempts, making 11-of-34 (32.4%) of their 3's. They once again had a strong presence on the boards, holding a 42-32 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive boards. Terri Wind (22 points, 12 rebounds) and Kiara Goggleye (19 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for the Spartans. Kaylee Robinson distributed 5 assists.
Four players reached double figures for Mesabi Range, led by Gabby Lira (19 points, 9 rebounds). Jasia White (10 points, 10 rebounds) had a double-double, while Memphys Tendrup and Suzy Aubrey added 10 points apiece. The Norse shot 34.5% (20-58) from the field and made 10-of-14 (71.4%) of their free throw attempts.
M State (1-3) will travel to Thief River Falls on Tuesday night to face Northland Community and Technical College.
