Cyclones Hand Lady Spartans 73-45 Setback
The lady Spartans had only five players available for their Wednesday night encounter with St. Cloud Technical and Community College at M State in Fergus Falls. One of the five was Hailey Nelson, a sophomore who had not played since the 2022-23 season and was activated for the game against the Cyclones. St. Cloud dominated the boards, 52-30 and shot the ball at a 42% clip as they handled the Spartans, 73-45.

The Cyclones were led by 6-3 post player Ella Duevel who pulled down 18 rebounds, scored 14 points and blocked 4 shots. Brooklyn Fischer (14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), Ava Redding (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks), and Lily Manning (11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) were also in double figures.
Madi Foss registered a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the lady Spartans. She also had 3 steals and a pair of blocks. Tenley Epema added 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, and Kaitlyn Olson finished with 7 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
The lady Spartans made only 25% (15-60) of their field goal attempts in the game. They took excellent care of the basketball, committing only 11 turnovers.
Fergus Falls (5-9, 0-4 MCAC South) is scheduled to host Minnesota West on Saturday at 1:00pm.
