Trinity Bible Overcomes Slow Start to Defeat Lady Spartans 47-43 with Strong Finish.
The M State Women's Basketball team hosted Trinity Bible College in a non-conference contest in Fergus Falls. M State held a 12-1 lead after the first quarter, however, Trinity got it together in the second quarter, out-scoring the lady Spartans 20-14 to climb to within 5 at the half, 26-21. M State led 36-32 after three quarters, but Trinity Bible went on a 15-7 fourth quarter run to close out the game with a 47-43 victory.
"Tough loss," said M State Head Coach Jodi Holleman. "Jayna Gronewold was really sick, Mo Bugbee didn't play and Maddie Ballweg sprained her ankle."
Trinity Bible College was led by Kaleigh Mannering with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Marlyssa Ledgerwood added 9 points and 11 rebounds, and Rachel De Campos led them with 6 steals, while adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 points.
Mia Blaskowski led M State with 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Madi Foss contributed 9 points and a team high 9 rebounds. Itzel Salazar scored 7 points and distributed 5 assists.
M State is now 11-9 overall. They take a 5-4 MCAC South record into their 1:00pm game with Rochester on Saturday in Fergus Falls.
