The M State Women's Basketball team opened up a 28-8 lead after one quarter at Western Technical College in Wisconsin, and ran away with a 76-22 road win on Saturday afternoon. M State shot 47.6% (30-63) for the game, assisting on 17 of their 30 made baskets and taking great care of the ball as they only turned it over 7 times in the game.
Jayna Gronewold led the offense, coming off the bench to score 17 points. Madi Foss added 13 and Mo Bugbee had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kiera Cox contributed 4 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Mia Blaskowski scored 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, and Itzel Salazar chipped in with 8 points, while adding 3 assists and 3 boards.
Western Tech hit only 27% (10-37) of their shots from the floor. Macy Cagle led them with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Emma Hunt had a team high 7 rebounds.
M State (9-5, 3-1 MCAC South) will play a non-conference game at Sisseton-Wahpeton College on Monday and will resume conference action Saturday at Rochester.
