Lady Spartans Shoot 53.4% to Win 85-36 at Spartan Classic

The M State lady Spartans were 85-36 winners over Sisseton-Wahpeton College on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. M State held a commanding 43-24 advantage in the rebounding category and shot a blistering 53.4% (31-58) from the field. They also held Sisseton-Wahpeton to just 22.8% (13-57) shooting in the game.
Jayna Gronewold was on fire, hitting 11-of-15 field goal attempts and 7-of-8 free throws to finish with a game high 31 points. Itzel Salazar and Mo Bugbee added 22 points apiece. Brooke Finken was the top rebounder with a dozen. Salazar and Bugbee had 7 and 6 boards, respectively, and Meg Moberg pulled down 6 rebounds off the bench. Madi Foss finished with 5 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, and Gronewold added 5 rebounds and 5 assists to her 31 point performance.
Sisseton-Wahpeton was led by 19 points from Hawk Bair and 8 points and 8 rebounds from Alexandria Guevara. Ashley Lillard came up with 4 steals and 5 rebounds.
M State (6-4) opens MCAC Southern Division play with a road game at Minnesota West Community College in Worthington on Wednesday and will play at home against Riverland on Saturday.
