M State Spartan Men close out the fall season in 8th place at the Comet Invitational

The M State Spartan Men's golf team closed out the fall season at the Comet Invitational at the Hawley Golf Club. The Spartans finished in 8th place with a two-day total of 672 (344-328).

The M State Spartan Men's golf team closed out the fall season at the Comet Invitational at the Hawley Golf Club, Hawley, MN.  

Results of the two-day 2025 Comets Invitational at Hawley Golf and Country Club in Hawley, MN  (Hosted by Mayville State University Oct 8-9, 2025)

 *M State Spartan Men finished in 8th place at the Comets Invitational with a two-day total of 672 (344-328).

*Adrian Fillipi led the Spartans with a two day 159 (77-82). Fillipi carded the Spartans low round of the tourney with a 77 on Wednesday.

*Brant Baron (79) and Kellen Murray (80) highlighted the Spartans on Thursday.

*Concordia College won the team event with a two day 589 (296-293)

*Ryan Engel of Concordia College was the medalist with a 140 (70-70)

"After a tough first day, we really improved as a team on day 2 and played our best round of the fall season. The wind blew hard so patience was a key as the ball wasn't easy to control. Brant Baron and Kellen Murray had their best rounds of the season and Adrian carried us on day two. Improving 16 shots on the 2nd day was a nice way to close out the fall schedule.  This team is all freshman competing against four-year colleges with high quality and experienced golfers..  We have shown good potential and with more experience will have a chance to play some great golf in the spring."  

This concludes the Spartans Fall schedule.  The season will resume in the Spring.
