The Spartan men's golf team participated in the Jamestown Fall Classic against several 4 -year programs. THe Spartans finished the two day meet in 6th place. On the first day the men shot a team score of 318 and came back much stronger the second day with a score of 307. Leading the way for the Spartans was Wyatt Blomseth who shot a 151 (75-76) over the two days. Trevor Dalbec shot the best score for the Spartans on day two with a 75.
One the women's side, Carley Baumann was the Spartans lone competitor. She scored a 199 (103-96) for two day meet.
Head Coach Jason Retzlaff had this to say about the classic. "After struggling on Day one, we played better and put up a nice score on day 2. We made too many big mistakes in round 1 and limited those today. The quality of players in this tournament was outstanding and good for our players to compete in such a competitive environment. Wyatt Blomseth continues to be very consistent for us with a solid score in all four rounds this year. It was great to see Trevor Dalbec play so well today making only three bogies and shooting a 75. It is clear he has improved from a year ago and his growing confidence will only make him better."
"It was great to have Lexi Poyzer play in her first tournament as a Spartan and she had a very nice second round including two chip-ins from off the green."
The Spartans will compete next in the UMM Invite at Minnewaska GC on Friday at 11am.
