Spartan Men Rally from 26 Down but Come up Short in Loss to Anoka-Ramsey
Anoka-Ramsey broke a 2-2 tie with a 9-0 run early in the game on Wednesday, expanded their lead to 26 points late in the first half and held a 43-25 halftime lead over the M State Spartans in Fergus Falls.
Anoka-Ramsey broke a 2-2 tie with a 9-0 run early in the game on Wednesday, expanded their lead to 26 points late in the first half and held a 43-25 halftime lead over the M State Spartans in Fergus Falls. The Spartans battled back to within two points before the Golden Rams brought the lead back to 11 points and held off M State for an 85-76 victory.
Belind Alemadi put the Spartans on his back in the second half as he poured in 27 of his game high 35 points to bring them back. Alemadi was 15-for-32 from the field, making 5-of-14 3's. Diamond McGill and Javin Tindall each finished with 12 points and Tyson McArthur had 9. Mikele Kambalo led the team with 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Tindall had 8 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals, and MacArthur delivered 4 blocked shots.
Micah Adkins led Anoka-Ramsey with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Chaz Franklin and Ibrahim El-Amin finished with 15 points each. Franklin had 8 rebounds and El-Amin led the team with 5 assists. The Rams made 27-of-34 free throws (79.4%) and held a 45-36 advantage on the boards.
M State (12-11, 4-6 MCAC South) dropped to sixth in the standings. They will host Western Tech at 3:00pm Saturday.
