Spartan Men Fall to Minnesota North College - Rainy River at Central Lakes Classic
Minnesota North College – Rainy River took a 42-36 halftime lead on Saturday and went on to defeat M State by the score of 84-73 at the Central Lakes Classic in Brainerd.
Minnesota North College – Rainy River took a 42-36 halftime lead on Saturday and went on to defeat M State by the score of 84-73 at the Central Lakes Classic in Brainerd. Rainy River made 44.4% (32-72) of their field goal attempts, 10-of-30 (33.3%) from beyond the arc, and connected on 10 of their 13 free throw attempts (77%).
Four of the five Rainy River starters ended up in double figures, led by Malik Siggers with 23 and Tyrecke Francois with 21. Berrian Delinois added 15 and Butchiny Lordeus had 11. The Voyageurs recorded 20 steals on the day, led by Siggers and Delinois with 6 and 5, respectively.
M State made 43% (25-58) of their field goal attempts, 10-of-26 3's (38.5%) and 13-of-15 (86.7%) free throws. They won the battle of the boards 40-28.
The Spartans were led by Mason Muir (18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Mikele Kambalo (17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists), Khamani Steckler (13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists) and Javin Tindal (9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists). Diamond McGill added 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists off the bench.
M State (6-5) will host the Spartan Classic on Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30. They will face Minnesota North College – Itasca on Friday at 7:30pm and Sisseton-Wahpeton College on Saturday at 3:00pm.
