The Spartans entered post season play with a match-up against familiar foe St. Cloud Tech. The Spartans were able to defeat them twice during the regular season but were unable to make it a third time. The Spartans started out strong taking the first set 25-16. St. Cloud Tech was able to regroup and take the next three sets 25-20, 25-20, 25-16.
Leading the way for the Spartans offensively was Alexa Mortenson with 10 kills. Katherine Mastey added 8 kills and Hannah Eske added 7 kills. Sydney Hovland put up 32 assists. Bailey Marty collected 28 digs and 7 service aces. Taylor Berndt added 11 digs.
"We came out strong in the first set against St. Cloud playing great and had good energy and enthusiasm, but unfortunately it didn't last the whole match," said Head Volleyball coach Abby Crowser. "We often struggled this year with playing consistent and on Saturday it was our downfall. Even though the weekend didn't result in what we hoped for, overall it was a very successful season. There were plenty of accomplishments achieved by this team that proved how talented they were."
THe Spartans conclude the 2019 season with a final record of 21-5.
