The Spartans returned home for the first time this season in a highly anticipated match-up with #4 ranked St. Cloud Tech. The teams did not disappointed the nearly full gym. It a game of several swings of momentum it was the Spartans who took control of the last two sets to earned another victory over a ranked opponent and keep there perfect record in tack.
The match started off well for Spartans taking the first set 25-17. The teams went back and forth in set 2 with the Cyclones pulling it out 25-21. The 3rd set was all the Cyclones and it appeared they were taking control of the match. However, the Spartans were able to refocus and came out and took the next two sets to win the match.
Freshman Katherine Masley was had a big night as she led the team with 20 kills. Hannah Eske followed her with 11 Kills. Sydney Hovland continued her outstanding play dishing out 37 assists and added 10 digs. Bailey Marty led the team with 31 digs.
Coach Crowser had this to say about the match. "We couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere in the gym tonight," said head volleyball coach Abby Crowser. "We were excited to have our home opener and the crowd really helped because we knew this match against St. Cloud was going to be a battle. The team also did an excellent job of refocusing when we needed it most and they took complete control in the 4th and 5th set. Everyone on the team contributed to make the win possible."
The Spartans will continue there homestand on Friday as they host Western Tech at 6:30 and then on Saturday as they host the #1 Rochester CTC with opening serve at Noon.
