Spartans Down Ridgewater To Start Conference Play

M State Spartans remained undefeated as they beat conference foe Ridgewater College in 4 sets.  Leading the way for the Spartans was Sydney Hovland who had 30 assists in the game and suprassed 1,000 career assists.  Katherine Mastey led the Spartans with 11 kills, followed by Hannah Eske with 9.  Bailey Marty continued her excellent defensive play with 23 digs for the Spartans.

"We were looking forward to our match against Ridgewater because we were ready to open up conference play," said head volleyball coach Abby Crowser. "After a strong first two sets, we struggled a bit in the third, but bounced back again in the fourth. It's good to see that the team can regain their composure and finish solid after a lost set. The highlight of the night was definitely having Sydney Hovland get her 1,000th set assist. We were so excited for her and she's worked very hard for that accomplishment."

The Spartans will kick off a 4 game homestand starting next Wednesday, September 11th.  The Spartans will be facing St. Cloud Tech with opening serve scheduled for 6:30 pm.
