Spartans Split Weekend Road Trip

The M State volleyball team took their number 4 national ranking on the road this past weekend and had to play without their primary setter, Sheyenne Gunderson, in a pair of MCAC Southern Division matches.  The Lady Spartans wound up with a split on their road trip, losing to Minnesota West 3-2 (25-18, 25-17, 21-25, 16-25, 15-8) on Friday night in Worthington and winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-18) over Riverland on Saturday afternoon in Austin.

Leaders in the match against Minnesota West were Mackenzie Swanson (12 kills, 5 blocks, 16/18 serving, 3 aces), Katie Merrick (9 kills, 1 block), Kassandra Algarate (8 kills, 12 digs, 9/10 serving, 1 ace), Ashley Hendrickson (12/13 serving, 1 ace, 3 blocks, 11 digs), Lindsey Dierks (28 set assists, 16 digs, 18/18 serving, 1 ace), Claire Mathiesen (24 digs, 13/14 serving, 3 aces), Lexus Noyes (18/20 serving, 1 ace, 7 digs) and Kennedy Hartwell (5 kills, 1 block).

On Saturday against Riverland the Spartans were led by Swanson (12 kills, 3 blocks, 9/11 serving, 1 ace), Algarate (9 kills, 1 block, 10 digs, 15/17 serving, 1 ace), Hendrickson (6 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, 9/10 serving), Merrick (6 blocks), Dierks (13 digs, 3 blocks, 10/10 serving), Mathiesen (13 digs, 12/12 serving) and Noyes (29 set assists).
