Lady Spartans Go 3-1 at Home Invitational

The home team started the tournament with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-4, 25-13) sweep of Anoka-Ramsey, going 69-for-73 on the serving line for 94.5% efficiency.  They were led by Lindsey Dierks (4 ace serves, 22/22 serving, 10 kills, 16 digs), Lexus Noyes (15/15 serving, 13 digs), Claire Mathiesen (16/16 serving, 7 digs), Kassandra Algarate (8 kills, 8 digs), Sheyenne Gunderson (29 set assists), Katie Merrick (9 kills) and Mackenzie Swanson (5 kills).

M State lost a tough 5-setter to Bismarck State in their second match on Friday, falling 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 14-16).  Leaders for the lady Spartans were Dierks (27/27 serving, 17 kills, 25 digs, 3 ace serves), Algarate (19/22 serving, 15 kills, 17 digs, 2 blocks), Gunderson (47 set assists, 10/12 serving, 8 digs), Swanson (13/14 serving, 9 digs, 9 kills, 3 blocks), Noyes (31 digs, 17/18 serving), Mathiesen (20 digs, 15/16 serving) and Ashlyn Hendrickson (8 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks).  M State was 101-for-109 (92.7%) on the serving line with 5 aces.

On Saturday, M State beat Itasca 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-6) and Rainy River 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-11).  Against Itasca, Swanson (11 kills, 4 blocks, 9/10 serving), Mathiesen (11 digs, 2 ace serves, 16/16 serving), Dierks (7 kills, 17 digs), Algarate (4 ace serves, 6 kills, 9 digs, 12/14 serving), Gunderson (31 set assists, 7 digs, 3 ace serves) and Noyes (16 digs, 13/13 serving) were the statistical leaders.  In the match with Rainy River the leaders were Dierks (16/17 serving, 12 digs, 10 kills, 5 ace serves), Swanson (11 kills, 8/9 serving, 4 blocks, 2 ace serves), Noyes (13 digs, 12/12 serving), Merrick (9 kills, 2 blocks), Algarate (7 kills, 8 digs, 8/8 serving), Mathiesen (15/16 serving, 12 digs) and Gunderson (35 set assists, 10/11 serving, 8 digs).  The Spartans served up 12 aces against the lady Vikings and 8 against the lady Voyageurs.

M State will host the Mayville State JV at 6:30pm Wednesday and the Concordia JV at 6:30pm Friday.
