
The M State Spartan women's basketball team opened MCAC conference play on Saturday against Rochester. The Spartans started off well taking a 16-15 lead after the 1st quarter. The undefeated Yellow Jackets took control in the second frame as they outscored the Spartans 20-10 to lead 35-26 at halftime. Rochester was able to extend their lead by putting up 27 points in the 3rd quarter to take control of the game 62-47. The Spartan women continued to compete and outscored the Jackets in the final quarter 18-16 but fell short by a score of 78-65. The Spartans fall to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in the MCAC
Alison Kranz continue to shine for the Spartans. The freshman scored 24 points on 10-11 shooting from the field while knocking down 4-6 free throws. Kranz also pulled down 8 rebounds. Sabrina Fronning contributed 11 points and led M State with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Spartan women will take to the road to play MCAC foe Minnesota West on Wednesday. Opening tip is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
