The St. Cloud Cyclones held the M State lady Spartans to just eleven points in the second quarter as they took a 39-28 halftime lead on the way to a 75-56 victory on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.
"I am very proud of this team and how they have fought and battled throughout this year," said Head Coach Janice Hendrickson of M State. "We came up short today, facing a very hot shooting St Cloud team."
The Cyclones shot 52.5% (31-59) from the field and made 7-of-17 (41%) of their three-pointers. They placed five players in double digits, led by Ashley Cassenswith 18. Cassens also had a team high 6 assists. Rian Lee registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds and Makayla Paggen finished with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Rachel Vreeland added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, and Lashay Howard came off the bench to score ten points.
Fergus Falls shot just 32.4% (22-68) of their shots and hit only 4-of-18 (22%) from beyond the arc. Taylin Schleicher scored a team high 19 points and Samantha Lupkes scored 15 points and gathered in 8 rebounds. Macky Warne scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Kassandra Algarate dished out five assists and pulled down 6 rebounds.
M State finishes the season 8-19 and 4-10 in MCAC Southern Division play.
