M State shot the ball extremely well, hitting 48.3% (28-58) of their field goal attempts, nailing 8-of-22 (36.4%) 3's and dropping 7-of-9 free throws.
"Today was a team win for us," commented Head Coach Janice Hendrickson of the lady Spartans. "We made some defensive changes mid-game and the girls did a great job executing it to shut down a powerful inside game from Ridgewater."
The lady Spartans placed four players in double digits, led by Taylin Schleicherwith 15 points. Samantha Lupkes and Macky Warne added 14 apiece and Claire Mathiesen added a dozen. Rebound leaders were Mathiesen and Lupkes with 7 apiece and Schleicher with six. Both Mathiesen and Kassandra Algarate had six assists, while Warne added five. Algarate also had a team high 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.
Ridgewater shot 38.2% (21-55) and made just 11-of-21 foul shots. They were led by Heidi Sellman (21 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals), Abby Oberg (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals) and Morgan Swenson (9 points, 7 rebounds).
The lady Spartans (6-15 overall, 2-6 MCAC South) will travel to Worthington on Wednesday to face Minnesota West at 5:30pm.
