"We struggled to get started in the first quarter, but slowly warmed up and had a balanced attack," reported M State Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. "It was good to get a win on the road in the southern division. We need to carry this momentum into our game at St. Cloud on Wednesday."
Samantha Lupkes (16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocked shots) and Kassandra Algarate (10 points, 11 rebound, 4 assists, 2 blocked shots, 1 steals) stuffed the stat sheet and recorded double-doubles. Taylin Schleicher had a game high 18 points, while adding 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Claire Mathiesenhad 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
M State shot 38% (28/74) from the field and made 7-of-12 (58%) from the free throw line. They held a commanding 56-37 advantage on the boards and held Riverland to 27% (16-60) shooting.
Leaders for Riverland were Sophia Waldner (15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocked shots) and Samantha Siskow (13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals).
M State will travel to St. Cloud to face the Cyclones on Wednesday night and will host Ridgewater next Saturday at 1:00pm.
