The M State lady Spartans fell behind 14-3 after the first quarter at Western Technical College in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Saturday and never recovered as they fell by the score of 58-44.
Lyga Kerrigan led the home team with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Lexy Schroeder was also in double digits with 14 points, while grabbing 7 boards. Casey Moger had a team high 7 steals to go along with 5 points. Clara Horn blocked three shots. Western Wisconsin Tech shot 30.5% (18-59) from the field and made 19-of-25 free throws.
Leaders for M State were Macky Warne (16 points, 4 rebounds), Samantha Lupkes (14 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists) and Taylin Schleicher (10 points, 5 rebounds 2 assists). The lady Spartans made just 24.1% (14-58) of their field goal attempts.
"This was a very physical, uncontrolled game which we struggled to get anything started offensively," said Spartan Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. "We need to make some big adjustments before our next game with Rochester on Wednesday."
