"We were able to attack Rainy River in the first half, like we wanted to, getting them in foul trouble, but weren't able to capitalize and build a lead," said M State Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. "We struggled with the quickness and pressure Rainy River gave us and panicked forcing turnovers. As we are still preparing for our conference schedule it is very important for us to learn how to play a fast paced game without unforced errors."
Samantha Lupkes (15 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists) led the Spartans with a double double. Claire Mathiesen added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists, and Kassandra Algarate had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Taylin Schleicher contributed six points and 10 boards.
Rainy River was led by Daeja Monroe (28 points), Davane Gross (11 points, 9 steals, 5 assists) and Vilawn Mobley (11 points, 5 rebounds).
