The M State lady Spartans fell to Hibbing on Friday night, losing by a score of 80-51. Hibbing made 49% (35/72) of their field goal attempts and M State shot just 31% (21/67).
"We couldn't match up with the size of Hibbing's team," commented M State Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. "They were bigger and stronger than us tonight and we couldn't hit the shots to keep un in the game. This will be a big test for us to see if we can recover to play Rainy River tomorrow afternoon."
Leaders for M State were Kassandra Algarate (12 points), Claire Mathiesen (11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists), Taylin Schleicher (10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), Samantha Lupkes (8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists) and Macky Warne (5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists).
M State had 21 turnovers and struggled from 3-point range, making only one of 16 attempts from beyond the arc.
