The M State Gold golf team captured their Spartan Invitational by following up a first day total of 314 with a second day total of 312 for a final score of 626, 26 strokes better than the M State Gold team which finished at 652. Rochester was third at 686 and Mesabi Range came in fourth with a 690.
Mason Landborg was the medalist of the tournament with a 152 (76-76) and Blake Bloedorn was runner up with a 154 (76-78). M State's Kyle Boe had the low round of the day on Monday with a 75, giving him a two day total of 156, good for third place.
"It was another tough day out there but our guys hung in there," said Head Coach Jason Retzlaff of M State. "Congrats to Mason on being the medalist and Blake on runner-up honors with both playing some consistent golf. It was great to see Kyle play so well and deliver the low round of the day. Nick and Luke also bounced back nicely with very good rounds today."
The Spartans will next compete at the Cougar Invitational hosted by UM-Morris at Pomme de Terre Golf Coure in Morris.
