Spartans Fall In Final Seconds To Vikings

Day two of the Spartan Classic matched up the Spartans against Itasca Community College.  The Spartans had faced the Vikings earlier this year and dropped the road contest 80-69.   They looked to avenge the loss Saturday afternoon.  Things started off well for the Spartans as they were able to take a 39 - 36 lead into halftime.  The second half turned into the a back and forth battle with the lead changing several times.  Ultimatly turnovers doomed the Spartans as they fell in the final minute 81-78.  The loss brings the Spartans to 6-7 overall. 

The Spartans shot 47% from the field and 25% from behind the arc.  Alend Alemandi led all Spartans in scoring with 17 points. Jonas Baune and Renell Edwards posted their first double-doubles of the season.  Baune put in 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Edwards scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Alemandi dished out four assists to lead the team. 

The Spartans will continue there homestand on Wednesday.  The Spartans will open up Southern Division play as they host Anoka Ramsey Community College.  Opening tip is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
