Coach Elenberger rejoins M State for his second stint with the Spartans coaching staff. He spent the 2012 season as the Co-Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach and Video Coordinator. Under his guidance the Spartan offense tripled its points per game, increased its yards per game, yards per carry and catch, touchdowns, decreased sacks allowed and total turnovers from previous season. The offense also produced four 1st Team All-Division players and two 2nd Team All-Division.
Prior to rejoining the Spartans, Randy spent the previous two seasons at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND as the Running Backs, Full Backs, Tight Ends and Long Snappers coach as well as the Equipment Manager, Video Coordinator and Social Media Director. While at UJ, he mentored two different All-Conference Tight Ends.
He spent one season as the Graduate Assistant Running Backs Coach at Valley City State University in Valley City, ND. He helped the Vikings rack up over 1,800 yards rushing, 17 rushing TD’s and 5.3 yards per carry as well one All-Conference Running Back selection. Prior to VCSU, Randy was an assistant coach at Davies High School in Fargo, ND for two seasons, where he worked with the Offensive and Defensive Lines as well as the Long Snappers.
Randy is originally from Milnor, ND and graduated in 1998, where he was an All-Conference, All-Region Middle Linebacker. He started his college career and played Middle Linebacker and Long Snapper at Concordia College Moorhead, MN and finished at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Randy has a Master’s degree in Leadership in Physical Education and Sport and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Recreation Leadership, from NDSU.
Randy and his wife Katie have two daughters, Aly (6) and Aubrey (5) and live in Alexandria, MN.
