Coach Fry is going into his 1st season as head coach, previously the Defensive Coordinator for the Spartans the last two seasons. Coach Fry also served under his late Michigan High School Hall of Fame Coach Keith Stevens at Southfield Lathrup high school, were Fry coached the JV team and was the Defensive Coordinator of the Varsity Team. Fry attended M State and played for the Spartans in 06-07 where he was an All-Region and All-Conference player. After playing for the Spartans, Fry attended Bemidji State to pursue his Sport Management and Business Administration Degree. Coach Fry played for the Southern Michigan Timberwolves who competes in the Arena Football league as well as the National Amateur Football Developmental League. Coach Fry was awarded the Defensive player of the year in the GLFL and MLFA league, Rookie of the Year and was a member in the GLFL Pro Bowl. Coach Fry ranks 4th all time in tackles and interceptions for the Timberwolves.
After returning to M State in 2014, Coach Fry helped the Spartans reach the playoffs for the 1st time in 10 years as a member of the coaching staff under former Spartans Coach Steve King. Fry took over the defense in 2015 and guided them to a top 5 National ranking defensively for yards allowed.
Coach Fry is married to his wife Mary Fry of Fergus Falls, who he met here at M State as a student. They have 3 beautiful children Kadyn (5), Alayah (3), and new addition Kyrie who was born in July. Mary works for New Dimensions Home HealthCare, she is at most of the Spartans home games with the kids. Along with coaching the Spartans you can find Coach Fry at the Fergus Falls Area YMCA where he is the Sports Coordinator and Building Supervisor.
