Bottineau scored 21 first quarter points and held a 21-7 halftime advantage over the Spartans. The home team added 21 third quarter points to three points for M State and Bottineau scored the final seven points of the day in the fourth quarter.
Bottineau had 369 yards (152 passing, 217 rushing) on the day, compared with 208 (99 passing, 109 rushing) for M State.
Mykh'ael Chavis led the Spartans with 92 rushing yards on 20 carries, scoring their lone touchdown of the day. Jamar Howard completed 2-of-5 passes for 45 yards and Jabari Howard led the receivers with 4 catches for 59 yards. Daquan Wims caught two passes for 40 yards. Jordan Foss booted a 29 yard field goal. Defensive leaders were Andrew Costello (8 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles), Logan Lillis (7 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 1 sack) and Keyshawn Prince (8 solo tackles, 1 interception). Devin George added eight solo tackles, Joshua Ivory picked off a pass and Akhari Roberts recorded a sack.
Leaders for Bottineau were Steele Ware (2-3 passing, 79 yards, 1 TD pass), Jackson Argoe (4-13 passing, 73 passing yards, 5 carries, 49 yards rushing), Brandon Neely (7 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD), DeRante Sanders (10 carries, 65 yards, 3 TDs) and Derell Pruitt (2 catches, 81 yards, TD). Defensive leaders were Aaron Appleton (7 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles), Fabian Gordon (3 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles), Michael Kizer (6 solo tackles, 1 sack) and Isaiah Dennis-McLean (1 interception).
M State will close out their regular season schedule with a 1:30pm kickoff against Central Lakes on Saturday in Fergus Falls.
