Minnesota State Spartans blew out Ridgewater CC 11-1 in game 1 on Tuesday.
Ridgewater CC opened up the scoring in the first inning when Halvorson drove in one when he singled.
But in the bottom of the first inning, Minnesota State Spartans answered back scoring one run when Matt Pietsch singled. Then again in the second inning when Casey Peterson hit a solo homer. The Spartans notched four runs in the fifth inning on singles by Devin Bush and Tom Magnusson.
Soine took the loss for Ridgewater CC. He allowed ten hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out two.
The Spartans racked up 12 hits in the game. Magnusson, Pietsch, Bush, Peterson, and Jake Dykhoff each produced multiple hits.
The game was tied at six with Minnesota State Spartans batting in the bottom of the fifth when Devin Bush singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Ridgewater CC again started the scoring in the first inning scoring one run when Traphagen singled. Then in the fourth inning the Warriors scored three more runs to add to their lead putting the Spartans behind 6-1.
The Spartans stormed back in the fifth inning with a bases loaded double by Matt Pietsch to tie the game. Then later in the inning on 0-1 count Devin Bush singled in the go ahead run. The Spartans scored 9 runs in the fifth and 7 runs in the sixth thanks to a three-run homerun by Rory Drewes that won the game for M State 17-6.
Mitch Porter started the game allowing five hits and three runs over two and a third innings, striking out one. Westley Johnson was the winning pitcher for Spartans. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out four and walking zero.
