The M State Spartans grabbed an early lead on its way to a 14-5 victory over Anoka-Ramsey CC in game 1. The Spartans scored on a walk by Jake Dykhoff in the first inning but Anoka-Ramsey CC evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Jake Hanson doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Mitch Porter earned his first collegiate victory on the pitcher's mound. He allowed six hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three. Chandler Gramm threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen allowing one unearned run.
M State racked up a total of 17 hits. Will Magnusson, Tom Magnusson, Rory Drewes, Pietsch, Cody Arlt, Ryan Schmitz, and Jake Dykhoff all had multiple hits for MState. Magnusson went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Spartans in hits.
The Spartans stayed hot in game 2 with Austin Oetter going deep in the first inning for a grand slam and later on Jake Dykhoff hitting his second homer of the day. M State secured the 14-4 victory thanks to 6 runs in the first inning and eight runs in the fifth inning. The Spartans added nine hits to their total on the day with Jake Dykhoff, Matt Pietsch, and Rory Drewes all contributing multiple hits. Dykhoff led the Spartans with three hits in four at bats.
