Cory Miller has been named the new head football coach for the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Spartans.
Miller has more than 10 years of coaching experience and was most recently the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. Prior to his four-year coaching stint at DSU, Miller coached at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to become a head football coach and take over the Spartan program," said Miller, a native of Marshalltown, Iowa. "I'm enthused about coaching at the community college level because this is where a lot of students are looking to attend. With the rising costs of higher education, community colleges are a great fit for many students."
"I'm pleased to welcome Cory to our athletics staff," said Dr. Matt Borcherding, M State dean of liberal arts and sciences. "Cory is ready to hit the ground running with recruiting efforts this summer."
Miller earned bachelor's degrees in psychology and sports psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and a master's degree in business administration from Rockford (Ill.) University.
The Spartans' home field is on M State's Fergus Falls campus.
